Their energy supports emotional healing, helping to release negative emotions and bring peace and tranquillity into one’s life.

Something to Note...
At Self & Others, we believe that the true power of crystals comes from your personal connection with them.
Rather than relying on lengthy descriptions of what a crystal can do, we encourage you to use your intuition when selecting which crystal you need. Very often the elaborate descriptions will likely leave you feeling more overwhelmed and confused than clarified!
By tuning into your intuition, you'll discover how the crystal can uniquely support you in your journey. Trust the process, listen to the energy it offers, and let it reveal its purpose to you — because the best healing comes from within.
If you need help on how to select crystals, you can follow our “How to Choose Crystals Guide”.
What Is Pearl?
- Chemical Composition : Pearls are composed primarily of aragonite (CaCO₃), a form of calcium carbonate, and conchiolin, a protein secreted by mollusks. These layers are deposited around a nucleus inside the shell of an oyster or other mollusk.
- Origin : Pearls are produced by both freshwater and saltwater mollusks. Major sources include the Persian Gulf, the Red Sea, Japan, China, and French Polynesia.
- Crystal System and Habits : Pearl does not belong to a crystal system, as it is an organic gemstone. It forms naturally in spherical, oval, or irregular shapes inside the mollusk as a defense mechanism against irritants.
- Crystal Family or Group : As an organic gemstone, pearls belong to the biogenic family rather than a mineral group.
- Hardness and Durability : Pearls have a hardness of 2.5 to 4.5 on the Mohs scale, making them relatively soft and sensitive to scratches, heat, and chemicals.
- Colour : Pearls come in a variety of colours, ranging from white, cream, and pink to black, blue, and gold. The colour is determined by the species of mollusk and the water in which it grows.
Methods for Cleansing and Charging Pearl
- Water : Pearls are organic and sensitive to water. While they are generally safe in freshwater, avoid prolonged exposure to moisture and chemicals. Wipe with a soft, damp cloth for cleansing.
- Moonlight : Place pearls under the light of the full moon to cleanse and recharge their energy. The moon’s gentle light enhances their emotional healing and calming properties.
- Sunlight : Avoid exposing pearls to sunlight, as they can become brittle or lose their lustre over time.
- Selenite : Use a selenite plate to cleanse and charge pearls by placing them on the plate for several hours. This method helps restore their soft, nurturing energy.
- Visualisation : Hold pearls in your hands and visualise a soft, white or silver light flowing through them, clearing away stagnant energy and amplifying their calming and healing vibrations.
- Sound : Cleanse pearls using sound vibrations from a singing bowl or tuning fork. Let the sound waves pass through them to refresh their energy.
- Smoke Cleansing : Pass pearls through the smoke of sage, palo santo, or other cleansing herbs to purify their energy and restore their emotional balance and healing properties.
- Storage and Protection : Store pearls in a soft pouch to prevent scratches and keep them away from harsh chemicals, perfume, or excessive moisture, which can damage their surface.
How to Use Pearl
- Meditation and Spiritual Work : Use pearls during meditation by placing them near your sacral or heart chakra to enhance emotional healing, balance, and self-reflection. Their gentle energy helps calm the mind and nurture emotional well-being.
- Jewellery and Accessories : Wearing pearls as jewellery allows you to carry their calming and balancing energy throughout the day, promoting emotional clarity, peace, and purity.
- Home and Office : Place pearls in your home or workspace to foster a serene, harmonious environment. Their energy encourages emotional balance, nurturing relationships, and inner peace.
- Crystal Grids : Use pearls in crystal grids designed for emotional healing, purity, or balance. Pair them with stones like rose quartz or moonstone to enhance their nurturing and heart-centred properties.
- Elixir or Infused Water : Always use the indirect method when making a pearl-infused elixir, as pearls are sensitive to prolonged exposure to water and can be damaged.
